Joalice Joalice Nailon, born on August 21, 1968 in Hannibal, MO, was a beacon of compassion and dedication. Her life was a testament to the words of Maya Angelou, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
Joalice had a unique way of making everyone she encountered feel cherished and valued. Her selfless love, unyielding loyalty, and enduring commitment to her family were the cornerstones of her existence. Joalice was a dedicated worker at Head Start prior to becoming disabled. In spite of her personal challenges, she continued to be a source of unwavering support for her family. Her love for her children, grandchildren, siblings, and long-time companion Micheal Williams, was her driving force.
She was a loving mother to Candace Hernton, Ronald Hernton, and Charles Shepherd. Joalice was also a doting grandmother to Breanna Willis, Johnathan Hernton, Charles Jr, and Micheal Shepherd, and Mikayla Hernton. Her siblings, Keith Bloch, Kyna Glass, Johnise Bloch and Ronald Cole, were her pillars of strength. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of her loved ones. In the words of Helen Keller, "What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Joalice's love has certainly become a part of everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Joalice Tate; her brothers, William Bloch and Quentin Cole; and beloved granddaughter, Charlie Shepherd. Joalice passed away on April 16, 2024, leaving behind a void that can never be filled.
Her life will be celebrated on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 2:00pm EST at Alford's Mortuary, 1222 Napier Street, South Bend, Indiana, 46601.
